Carrie Compton

Carrie Joyce Compton, age 70, of Mount Pleasant passed away Tuesday, October 9, 2012 after a lengthy illness. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 12, 2012 at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Rawlinson officiating. Services are under the direction of Curry-Welborn Funeral Home.

She was born to Vernie and Geneva Mattingly Mitchell on April 4, 1942 in Mount Vernon. Ms. Compton was employed at Titus Regional Medical Center for 13 years in maintenance and loved her job.

She is survived by a daughter, Shelia Newman; a son, Gerald Simpson; two sisters, Nola Wood and Neva Sanders; two brothers, Jackie Mitchell and Keith Mitchell; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a special sister in law, Judy Mitchell Rawlinson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Ronald Simpson; two brothers and two sisters.
