Bob was born on April 13, 1935, to D.C. Massey Sr. and Vada Alene (Waller) Massey in Myrtle Springs, Texas. He was one of four children born and raised by D.C. and Vada Massey Sr. in East Texas. He graduated from Edgewood High School in Edgewood, TX. While he was still a student, he signed up for the Marines and 2 days after graduation was on his way to boot camp in California. Following his discharge, he met his first wife Mary Jo Sanches, on a streetcar in downtown Dallas. They married in 1960 and raised 2 children together in Mesquite, TX. Mary passed away in 2013 and in 2018, he married his second wife, Kathryn Johnson Pecchi Massey at 4:00 p.m. on November 1, 2018, at the Hopkins County Courthouse and moved to Sulphur Springs, Texas. Bob was also an ordained minister and preached every Sunday for many years at his own church, Red River Christian Church in Gainesville, TX as a guest speaker at many other Christian churches. He also visited inmates at various prisons and jails in North Texas regularly. He worked for several large freight firms throughout his life as a manager and as a sales representative.

Bob was a man of God and of principals. He always put God first in his life, followed closely by family and friends. He was dedicated to his faith and adored his family. He was also a great teacher, spending many weekends entertaining his grandchildren on his farm and teaching them about God, wilderness survival techniques, and country living. He was a generous and giving man too, helping many that needed his guidance in faith or in recovery from addiction.

Bob wrote a note for everyone here today.... His farewell words to his family and his friends are:

"Put God first in your lives, I love all of you".

His hope and final prayer was to "See my family and friends in Heaven".

Bob is survived by his wife, Kathryn Massey, his brother, Danny Massey, his son-in-law, Michael Storms, his nephew, Roy Dan Massey, his grandchildren; Beth, Tearsa, Nicholas, Collin, and Danielle, his great-grandchildren; Cash, Athena, Remy, Odin, and Raiden as well as other cousins and distant relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents, D.C. and Vada Massey Sr., his first wife, Mary Jo (Sanches) Massey, his brother, Delton Massey, his sister, Melba Jan Campbell, his son, D.C. Massey III, his daughter, Robin Suzzette Storms and his sister-in-law, Polly Kendall Massey.
