Fred Odell (Shipwreck) Kelly, age 85, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on June 15, 2015 at the Greenhill Villas. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 10:00 A.M. at the Curry-Welborn Funeral Home with Rev Lloyd Bedsworth officiating. Interment will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Family Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 at 9:00 A.M. prior to the service.
Fred was born on May 22, 1930 in Titus County to Charlie and Rosa Steadman Kelley. He worked for the Lone Star Steel Company and retired after 42 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and had been stationed in Alaska.
Fred is survived by his daughters, Evett Pilgrim and husband Gary of Mt. Pleasant and Robbin Gaskin of Mt. Pleasant, his son, Charles Peacock and wife Brenda of Mt. Pleasant. Grandchildren; Quinton Pilgrim, Trent Pilgrim, Jeff Peacock all of Mt. Pleasant, and Allan Gaskin, Adam Gaskin of Mt. Vernon, Jennifer Waldrum of Mt. Pleasant and Amanda Gaskin of Denton, great-grandchildren; Makenzie, Tristan, Jacob, Brennon, and Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Charlie and Rosa Kelley, his wife, Eva Cress Kelley, brothers, Grissom and Joe Kelley, sisters Frances Moody and Lorene Trefethen.
