Hollis Swanson

Hollis "Leon" Swanson, age 94, of Newsome, passed away Monday, January 12, 2015 in Pittsburg. Services will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 2:00 P.M. at the Curry-Welborn Funeral Home with Pastor Dwight Drake officiating. Interment will follow at the Macedonia Cemetery with Mike Swanson, David Swanson, Lanoy Swanson, Randy Acker, Scott Goodson, and Duane Walker serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Curry-Welborn Funeral Home.
Mr. Swanson was born on October 6, 1920 in Delta County TX to Homer L. and Irene Strickland Swanson. He retired from Pilgrim's Pride and was a member of the Revival Center Church. Mr. Swanson also served his country in the U. S. Army as a Military Policeman.
He is survived by his daughter Judy Drake and husband Dwight of Lake Cypress Springs, his grandchildren; Ronda Acker and husband Randy of Mt. Pleasant, Missy Goodson and husband Scott of Pittsburg, Russell Swanson of Indiana, Daron Swanson of Missouri, and Tommy Swanson of Krum, TX; eight great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Martha Abbot of Taylor Town, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer and Irene Swanson, his wife, Ruby Lucille Swanson, his son, Danny L. Swanson, and two brothers; Marvin Swanson of Ft. Worth TX and Lawrence Swanson of Pickton TX.
