Mt. Pleasant

Homer Collins Grubbs Jr. passed away peacefully Friday, January 18, 2024. He was 84. Homer (Collins or Butch to his friends) was born in Austin, Texas August 18, 1939, to Irene and Homer Grubbs. He attended school in Austin and Dallas, finally residing in Dallas, Texas to start his career. There, he worked for Capital Emsco, and he met the love of his life Marcia Knox. Collins and Marcia were married on June 1, 1968. They adopted a baby girl, Shannon, in November of 1972.  From there they moved to Galveston where he worked for American National. In 1982, he moved his family to Austin, Texas and worked for Continuum. They remained in Austin until both he and his wife retired. In 2004 they left Austin and moved to Mt. Pleasant, Texas. Though retired, Mr. Grubbs delivered parts for Napa for several years. If he wasn’t at Napa Auto Parts, you would most likely find him enjoying a burger at MTP Burgers and Fries.  Mr. Grubbs loved the finer things in life – his wife, Marcia, Football, Golf, Blue Bell and being a girl dad. He was a great friend to many, always gave the best advice and always greeted everyone with a smile. He never spoke harshly to anyone and always said “you never know where someone is, and you can never take it back once you say it.” He will be missed more than words can express.  After 18 years Homer Collins Grubbs has finally been reunited with his wife who passed away on August 8, 2006.

Homer Collins is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Grubbs and Irene Dodson, his stepmother Betty Grubbs, his brother-in-law Victor Michalak and his sister-in-law Pat Knox.

Homer Collins Grubbs Jr. is survived by his daughter, Shannon Powell and her husband Dr. Scott Powell. Homer Collins Grubbs is also survived by his sister-in-law Jamie Michalak, his sister-in-law Jodie and her husband Tim Yarde and his brother-in-law Charles Knox. Per his request, there will be no service. His ashes will be combined with Marcia’s and memorialized privately.
