James Winston Medford

Winston Medford, beloved father, grandfather, great- Grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully by the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bettie Medford, after More than five decades of marriage, and is survived by his wife, Charlotte Medford.

James Winston Medford was born on April 14, 1941, in Memphis, Texas, to Gaston and Maggie Medford He graduated From sunray High School and married Bettie Bain, on July 28, 1961. Together, they shared more than five decades of marriage and built a family rooted in faith, hard work, and love. Winston especially enjoyed visiting with friends, gathering with family, and sharing stories. His generosity, steady support, and ability to bring people together made him a cherished presence in the lives of his family and friends. His greatest pride was the family he helped create and the generations that followed.

Winston was preceded in death by his first wife, Bettie Medford; his parents, Gaston and Maggie Medford; his brothers, Joe Pat Medford, Sherman Medford, and Carthal Medford; and his Grandson, Rodney Medford. Winston’s family was central to his life.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Medford, his sister, June Decker, and her husband, Rick; his sons, Dale Medford and Darryl Medford and their wives, Teresa and Shannon; and his grandchildren, J.D. Medford of Encinitas, California, Taylor Chandler of Corsicana, Texas, and Misty Reynolds of Mount Pleasant, Texas; six great grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Through his marriage to Charlotte, survived by Phyllis Deese of Texarkana, Texas, Ray Tipton of Ashdown, Arkansas Kenny Tipton of Forney, Texas, and their families.

Winston’s legacy of generosity, hard work, devotion to family, and enduring strength will live on the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for the stories he shared, the support he gave, and the warmth he brought to those around him.
