J.E. Freeman, age 84, a resident of Titus County since 1992 went home to be with his savior in the early hours of May 8, 2015. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 11, 2015 at the Curry-Welborn Funeral Home at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. Clint Davis officiating, Interment will follow at the Greenview Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 10, 2015 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Freeman was the loving husband of Bettie Freeman and the caring father and grandfather to his daughter, Lisa Freeman, Stepdaughter, Kay Poteet and husband Kenny, daughter in law Drethia Parsons and husband mike, and grandchildren, David McElroy and Sarah McElroy.
Mr. Freeman was born in Sulphur Springs TX on September 27, 1930. He graduated high school in Dallas TX, he was employed by Southwestern Bell where he met and married Jenny. After being called to service for his country in the Korean War and after a short time back in Dallas he moved to Rockwall TX. After retiring from the phone company, he moved to mesquite TX. Following the death of Jenny, he reconnected with Bettie, his neighbor some 29 years before. He and Bettie were married and moved to Mt. Pleasant, in which they built their home and became members of First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant. They enjoyed time traveling, gardening, and especially time on his tractor. Respected by all who knew him, he continued to be supportive throughout his lengthy battle with muscular dystrophy.
Mr. Freeman is also survived by his sister Katie Sinclair and special grandson Diego Mendez, who brought him much joy and happiness.
He was preceded in death by his Parents, Jess and Alice Freeman, his son Alan freeman, wife Jenny, sisters Christine Garrett and Joyce Robinson, a grandson Daniel Poteet, and his son-in-law Ray McElroy
