Jerry Paul Collier

Nov 19, 1931 — Sep 8, 2026

Jerry Paul Collier, a beloved husband, dad, Paw Paw, and friend, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, September 8th, surrounded by his loving family.

Jerry was born on November 19, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, to George and Anna Mae (Taylor) Collier. A lifelong resident of the Argo area, he was a hard worker who wore many professional hats throughout his life, finding success as a logger, dirt contractor, and directional drilling operator. Jerry never met a stranger and possessed a gift for conversation that could brighten anyone's day. Above all, he loved the Lord and cherished his family deeply.

In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed playing his guitar, watching westerns and NASCAR races, and dirt tracking with his boys. In his younger years, he also enjoyed a little squirrel and deer hunting. His absolute favorite pastime, however, was spending time with his family, especially his wife of 65 years, Jo Ann, whom he loved with all his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Anna Mae Collier, and his sister, Bobbie Mae Collier Johnson.

Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann Collier of Argo, his sons, Paul Collier and wife Tracey, and Toney Collier and wife Sarah; and his five grandchildren, Cassie Fields of Mt. Pleasant, Jeremy Collier and wife Kylie of Mt. Pleasant, Candice Watkins and husband Ryan of Mt. Pleasant, Daniel Collier of Little Rock, Arkansas, and Thomas Collier of Argo. He is also survived by his bonus “grandchildren”, Ashley Smith, Kristy Smith, and Mychelle Stumpges.

His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Tayton Reynolds of Snyder, Texas, Caydance Reynolds of Mt. Pleasant, Kenley Collier of Mt. Pleasant, and Madden and Collier Watkins of Mt. Pleasant; his great-great-grandchildren, Fallyn Reynolds of Athens, Texas, and Karter Reynolds of Snyder, Texas; as well as numerous very special nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Chambers Hospice and Elara Home Health for their excellent and compassionate care. They would also like to send a special thank you to his dedicated caregivers, Kim Birchfield and Carolyn Brown, for the love, care, and friendship they provided.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, September 9th and funeral services at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 10th at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, with longtime friend and pastor Bro. Roy Conatser officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant.
