Jimmie Carolyn Bird passed away on December 26, 2021 in Mount Pleasant, Texas, after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was 80 years old. Jimmie was the proud mother of 5 children, 7 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. Her greatest love was her family and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
A Texas native, Jimmie was born and raised in Mineral Wells and graduated from the local high school. She was known for her infectious laugh and impeccable style and made close friends along the way. After spending 25 years in California, the Birds returned to Texas settling in Mount Pleasant, where they attended the First Baptist Church.
Jimmie spent many years as a bookkeeper for a variety of businesses and was later the owner of a bridal store. She was ahead of her time balancing a full-time career while managing a household and needs of four teenagers.
Jimmie was preceded in death by her mother Leona Knight, father Claude Knight, brother Luther Knight and sister Wynell Preisendorf. She’s survived by her husband David E. Bird and her children Randy Burns, Alton Burns, Tammy Welch, David Bird (wife Cindy) and Caroline Japic (husband Haris). She’s also survived by her grandchildren Tim Welch (wife Shelly), Christy Schmidt, Anthony Bird (wife Sara), Austin Bird, Chloe Japic, Sydney Japic and Reese Japic, and her great-grandchildren Cole Schmidt and Carter Schmidt.
Life for Jimmie’s family has forever changed, but we rejoice knowing she’s in heaven singing with the angels.
Services will be held Tuesday, January 4, 10:00AM at the First Baptist Church of Mount Pleasant, 2201 TX-49. Reception to immediately follow the service.
