A Celebration of Life for Joel, better known as "BUBBA," will be held on Friday, July 17, 2026, from 3:00 - 6:00 P.M. at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home.
With heavy hearts and profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Bubba, who left us far too soon on July 11, 2026. Bubba was born on June 29, 2004, in Mesa, Arizona, and from the very beginning, he brought a special light into the world that would shine brightly for 22 cherished years.
Bubba was the beloved son of Shiloh Lawhon and Lyle Copeland, and Joel and Eliana Ellestad.
He was the brother of the late, Gage Daniel Lyle Copeland and grandson to the late, Leslie and Jerry Rainwater, whom he shared a deep bond with. He was also preceded in death by his late uncle, Clay Mills and treasured friends; Payton Butler and Ty Byrd, best friends until the end.
He leaves behind a family who will forever hold his memory dear: his devoted parents, Shiloh and Lyle, and Joel and Eliana; his loving sister and brother-in-law, Cora and Robert Gray; his sister, Linzie (affectionately known as Didder) Ellestad; his brother, Jordan Villeda; and his cherished nephew, Robert Gage Gray. Bubba was also the grandson of Starr and Daniel Lawhon, and Greg Ellestad, and nephew to Uncles Zane Lawhon and Jimmy Ellestad, as well as to Aunts Misty Lawhon, Aunt Mandy, and Aunt Nana. He will be dearly missed by his many cousins, a vast circle of friends he considered family, and his adored furry companion, Chevy Love.
Bubba was a man of many talents and passions. He was known for his infectious sense of humor and his ability to bring laughter to any room. His generous spirit and willingness to lend a helping hand made him a cherished friend to countless individuals. He had an unwavering love for cars, especially those with loud mufflers, and he found joy in exploring back roads. Bubba truly relished the role of being an uncle to Gage, and his family meant everything to him.
His kindness, sense of humor, and genuine love for those around him left an indelible mark on everyone he encountered. Bubba had a rare gift for friendship, cultivating close bonds with an immeasurable number of people who will forever cherish the memories they shared.
May Bubba's laughter echo in our hearts forever, and may his spirit continue to inspire acts of kindness and generosity. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
