With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, John Edward Casteel, who left this world on June 28, 2026.
He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Cathy Casteel. Together, they shared 46 beautiful years of marriage, building a life centered on faith, love, family, and unwavering commitment.
John was an incredible father whose love knew no bounds. He was his children’s biggest supporter, always cheering them on through every milestone, challenge and accomplishment. Whether in everyday life, or from the bleachers at countless baseball and softball games. His encouragement, wisdom, and belief in them gave them confidence to chase their dreams and mold them into who they are today.
Being “Grampy” was one of his greatest joys. He adored his grandchildren and treasured every moment with them.
John is survived by his loving wife, Cathy Ann Casteel, his children; Darcy Wolf, Matt Casteel (Kaylee), and Nicki Wright (Kody), his cherished grandchildren; Aiden, Asher, Collins, Konnor, and Sawyer, his brother, Dave Casteel (Carla), his sister-in-law, Janie Casteel, and his father-in-law, Dwight Habermehl. He is also survived by many other family members and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.
John was preceded in death by his parents; Norman and Jeanne Casteel, and his brother, Chris Casteel.
John leaves behind a legacy that cannot be measured in accomplishments alone, but by the countless lives he touched. His kindness, laughter, work ethic, love for his family and generous heart will continue to live on through his children, grandchildren, and everyone fortunate enough to know him. Although our hearts are broken, we find comfort knowing that the love he gave, the lessons he taught, and the memories he created will remain with us always. His legacy will continue for generations to come.
