Joyce Caldwell

Joyce Hargrove Caldwell passed away on January 7, 2023. She was born on November 24, 1932, to Janet Blair and William C. Hargrove in Pittsburg, Texas. Joyce received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Woman’s University and a Master of Education degree from East Texas State University. She was a registered Dietitian for the local hospital and for many nursing homes in the surrounding counties. She was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church, a lifetime member of the Euterpean Club, and a member of the Junior Delphian Club. She enjoyed the Dallas Opera, travelling to six of the seven continents, and singing in the church choir.  

She married Charles Sargent Caldwell on November 27, 1954. They had four sons: Sargent, William, and Alan, all three of Mt. Pleasant, Texas and Myles of Fruitvale, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by two sisters, Evelyn Long and Marie Hargrove, her four sons, eight grandchildren, and one great grandson.

A viewing and graveside service will be held at Greenhill Cemetery starting at 10:30am on Friday, January 13, 2023. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Mt. Pleasant, Texas at 1:00pm followed by a visitation in the Fellowship Hall.
