Honoring the extraordinary life of Judy Leonard, born May 22, 1942, in Checotah, Oklahoma to George McDaniel and Lessie Hames. She was the youngest of eight children.
A devoted mother survived by her “girls”: Esther VanOrder and husband, Robert of Omaha, TX; Marcie Lockwood and husband, Bobby of Omaha, TX; Becca Lois of Paris, TX; and Sylvia Pearl of Omaha, TX. Judy had a child-like spirit, and was Granny to 13 amazing grandchildren: Rachel Finley of Omaha, TX; Amber Ring of Mt. Vernon, TX; Jeremiah Henley of Daingerfield, TX; Jynipher Ragland and husband, Deen of Omaha, TX; William Bridges of Omaha, TX; Laura Light and husband, Gary of Waxahachie, TX; Aaron Bickle and wife, Mary of Dallas, TX; Kristen Alwardt of Paris, TX; Ariel Bickle of Paris, TX; Jessica and husband, Stone of Omaha, TX; Zackary McClue and wife, Erin of Hazel Park, MI; April Randell of Missouri; Oliver Ray of Omaha, TX, and 16 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She leaves a legacy of love, strength, and determination. Judy, who loved dressing up, jewelry, and makeup, was a blend of goofiness, resilience, and strength. Her heart resonated with John Wayne, Alan Jackson, Conway Twitty, and Elvis Presley. Judy was the former elevator operator at the Paris Lamar County Courthouse and a retired employee of Dollywood; she embraced elegance. Above all, she was our mom. Judy concluded her earthly journey on December 27, 2023, at home, surrounded by family. Now at peace, she reunites with her loving husband Alton Leonard, grandson Cody Ring, granddaughter Shannon Randell, bonus son Jack Newman, her mother, father, brothers and sisters in the eternal hangout.
