Kay Pettey

Kay Pettey, age 65, passed away December 12th after courageously fighting cancer. Kay was born to Charlie and Barbara Nixon in Abilene, Texas and was raised in Houston. After graduating high school, she worked as a legal secretary.

Kay was a devoted wife and mother. She married Larry Pettey in 1979, and together they lovingly raised two children: Kristen (37), and Brandon (36). Kay had an insatiable passion for reading and education that she passed down to her children. When Kay was not home selflessly caring for her family, she could often be found volunteering for her kid’s school functions.

Kay is survived by her husband Larry; her two children Brandon and Kristen; her sister Debbie; her niece Heather; and her nephew Chase. Kay’s life will be celebrated January 15th at 1:00 P.M. at Curry-Wellborn Funeral Home. Anyone who wishes to help honor Kay’s memory can donate to the Literary Council of Bowie and Miller Counties in lieu of flowers.
