Loyd Riley

Loyd E. “Gene” Riley, age 79, of Argo, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 2:00 P.M. at the Curry-Welborn Funeral Home with interment to follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Visitation will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Gene Riley was born on July 7, 1938 in Blue Ridge TX to Loyd L. Riley and Hattie Worley Riley, he married Meryl Johnson on October 11, 1986. Gene had worked for Big Tex and was a member of Bethel Church of Christ and was a veteran of the U.S. Army for 24 years serving during the Vietnam War and was on the founding board of the Argo Fire Station and member of the DAV #16

Mr. Gene, as he was lovingly known is survived by his wife of 31 years, Meryl Riley of Argo, son, Gene Riley of Floyd TX., son, Teddy Bradley and wife Jennifer of Mt. Pleasant TX., daughter, Tina Bradley and Fiancé Jess Pierce of Bogata TX., son, Tracey Watson and wife Kelly of Mt. Pleasant TX., and daughter in law Angie Watson of Winnsboro TX., grandchildren; Johnathan Bradley and wife Margaret of Mt. Pleasant TX, Charlie Bradley and wife Brittney of Mt. Pleasant, Sarah Bradley of Mt. Pleasant TX., Amber Taylor of Bogata TX., D.J. Hall of Scotts Bluff NB., Katie Watson, and April Watson of Whitesboro TX., Andrew Watson, Carter Watson, and Megan Watson of Mt. Pleasant TX., and Shelby Watts and husband Caleb of Winnsboro TX and Carson Watson of Winnsboro TX., great-grandchildren; Austin Bradley, Charlotte Bradley, Brodee Bradley of Mt. Pleasant TX., Jayson Taylar of Bogata TX., Zoee Hall and Tristyan Hall of Scotts Bluff N.B., Jonah Kate Watts of Winnsboro TX and Baby Zeke Due May the 27th.

He is also survived by his brother, James Riley and wife Minnie of Farmersville TX., and sister, Hazel Copeland and husband Cloyd of Farmersville TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loyd and Hattie Riley, Twin siblings, Peggy Riley and Billy Riley, Son, Tony Watson and two grandsons, Adam Watson and Tracey Watson Jr.
