Mildred Jean Avara Rolling, age 82, went to be with her heavenly father on Saturday, February 27, 2021. She was born in McComb, MS on January 10, 1939 to Elmer Avara and Christine Avara Morgan.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home beginning at 2:00 PM with Yanckton Hatten officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Farmers Academy cemetery. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Delwin Willie, Tanner McFerren, Ronnie Walker Jr., Vernon Lee Hill Jr., Ricky Hill, Guy Robles, Royce Ellington, Bobby Howerton and Scott McFerren.
Growing up Mildred was very close to her family, especially her siblings Jean and Dean Morgan. You could always find them sharing a laugh or two together. She enjoyed hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains and looking at the waterfalls. Some of her proudest and most cherished moments were the ones she spent with her 5 children and grandchildren, which she loved very much. She was a member of Dellwood Park Assembly of God, and a member of their prayer group.
She is survived by her children, Delwin Willie, Judy Robles and husband Guy, Sherry Ellington and husband Royce, Michelle Howerton and husband Bobby, Christy McFerren and husband Scott; sister’s, Kathryn McCurnin, Jeanette Whittington, and Jean Berteau and husband Donald, as well as 9 grandchildren, 13 great-great children, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her death is her husband Edward Joseph Rolling IV (E.J.), parents, Christine Morgan and Elmer Avara; brothers, William Avara and Buddy Morgan; grandson, Dustin Howerton.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Loving Hope Hospice.
