Ron Plemmons

September 30, 1949 — October 21, 2015

Ron W. Plemmons, age 66, of Mount Pleasant, Texas, passed away at home on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 24 at 11:00 A.M. at the Curry-Welborn Funeral Home with Dr. Clint Davis and Bro. Glenn Griffith officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Ron was born on September 30, 1949 in Dallas Texas, to John Robert and Ellen Marie England Plemmons. He grew up in the Pleasant Grove area and graduated from W. W. Samuell High School in 1967 where he lettered in basketball. He then attended Southwestern University in Georgetown on a basketball scholarship.
He began his life-long career as a Master Electrician beginning with work on the Alaskan pipeline. He later came to east Texas to work for TUMCO, now Luminant, where he worked for over 30 years before retiring in 2009. During his tenure there, he served as a union steward for a number of years.
He was passionate about many things, including golf - known for his long drives; creating beautiful works of art with his scroll saw; and all things Aggie and Harley Davidson.
Ron was a Christian, baptized at Highland Park Baptist Church, and later led Discipleship Training and also worked as a youth leader. He was currently a member of First Baptist Church, Mount Pleasant.
He is survived by his wife Debbi of Mount Pleasant, son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Anika Wiltsie, granddaughter, Tanner Faith Wiltsie, and grandson Carter Dylan Wiltsie, all of Fresno, CA; sister-in-law and spouse, Joanna and Roy Jester; brother-in-law and spouse, Dan and Debra Robison; as well as nephews, Michael Jester; Rory (Opie) Jester and wife Melissa; Eric Robison and wife Maggie; and great nieces and nephews; Colton Jester, Kortnee Jester, Riley Robison, Natalie Robison, Parker Mahan and Gabbie Mahan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and by a brother Dennis Harold Plemmons.
