Shirley Burns-Francis

Shirley Jean Burns-Francis, age 75, of Sulphur Springs TX, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at the Curry-Welborn Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant TX., visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 30, 2021 one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will follow at the Forrest Lawn Memorial Park in Mt. Pleasant TX.

Shirley was born on September 27, 1946 in Mt. Pleasant TX to Myrdth Fredrick “Fred” Cox and Imogene “Jean” (Smith) Cox. She graduated from Mt. Vernon High School, was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sulphur Springs, and worked for over 30 years at the Jordan’s Health Service in Mt. Vernon TX and was proud to be a daughter, wife, mother and grandmother to a wonderful family and a special aunt to some special cousins.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband George Francis of Sulphur Springs TX., her sons; Todd Burns, and wife Mindi, and Brandon Burns and wife Kelly, two grandsons; Max Burns and Matthew Burns, her stepchildren, Jimmy Francis and wife Cathy, Steven Francis, and Tammy Willoughby and husband Kenneth, nine step-grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and her aunt Sue French and husband Uncle Jr.

She was preceded in death by her father, Fred Cox, her mother, Jean Cox Powell, and stepfather John Powell, her grandparents, W.C. and Mary Cox, and Butler and Ethel Smith.
