Funeral service for Susan D. Craig, age 67, of Cookville, Texas will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home with Shiles Hubbell officiating. Interment will follow at Nevill’s Chapel Cemetery with Josh Craig, Chase Marlar, Toby Craig, Shane Craig, Layton Lennox and Trenton Tosh serving as pallbearers and Shawn Craig and Garland Tosh serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home. Mrs. Craig passed away in Longview, Texas on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
Susan Denise (Stracener) Craig was born on February 8, 1959, in Lubbock, Texas to Boyd William Stracener and Beatrice (Hayes) Stracener. She married her beloved husband, Johnny Craig on April 18, 1977, at Damascus Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant, Texas, soon to celebrate their 49th wedding anniversary—a testament to their enduring love and commitment. Susan devoted her professional life to nursing, skillfully serving as a Registered Nurse in the Intensive Care Unit, Emergency Room, and recovery areas. Her compassionate care and steadfast dedication to her patients were hallmarks of her career and a reflection of her generous heart.
Susan is survived by her husband, Johnny Craig, her mother, Joan Stracener, her daughter, Kristy Marlar and son-in-law, Chase Marlar, her daughter, Kelly Tosh and son-in-law, Garland Tosh, her son, Shawn Craig, and daughter-in-law, Mollie Craig, her son, Joshua Craig and daughter-in-law, Ashley Craig, her grandchildren; Taylor Lennox, Hayden Herridge, Layton Lennox, Toby Craig, Hannah Tosh, Hunter Shirley, Trenton Tosh, Zoei Craig, Shane Craig, Candon Patrick, Kinsley Craig, Destini Craig and Aiden Craig. She is also survived by her 18 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Boyd Stracener, her mother-in-law, Doris Anderson, her great-grandson, Kason Shirley, and her brother-in-law, Michael Craig.
