Willard E. "Cotton" Cecil, 93, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in Mount Pleasant. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., May 10, 2014 at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home with Chaplain Don Cecil officiating. Internment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery under the direction of Curry-Welborn Funeral Home.
Mr. Cecil was born June 10, 1920 in Mount Pleasant to Samuel Cecil and Rebecca Meaders Cecil. He was a decorated World War II veteran serving in the 101st Airborne Division in France and Germany and was in the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes Forest in Belgium. He was a long time educator as a teacher, coach, administrator, and bus driver in Titus County as well as the last County Superintendent in Titus County.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Maurine Bell Cecil, daughter and son-in-law Sharon and Bascom Hargrove of Cookville, daughter Nancy Roberts of Longview, and son and daughter-in-law Anthony and Lisa Cecil of Mount Pleasant. Grandchildren: Laura Reynolds, Kevin Hargrove, Rick Foster, Scarlett Foster, Katrina Hickham, Trisha Cecil, Cain Cecil and Cable Cecil.
Great grandchildren: Michael and Morgan Foster, Aron Farley, Tristen Reynolds, Wesley Hernandez, Braden, Brian and Brant Hargrove. Great, great grandchild: Ashton Farley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: Emerson, Corbit, and twin brother Willis, 2 sisters; Modell Price and Jessie Cameron.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home.
Donations may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice or to any Veterans Associations in remembrance of Willard E. Cecil.
