Dr. Dickey Crooks

Dr. Dickey B. Crooks of Mount Pleasant Texas passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the age of 73. After a short time of declining health, Dr. Crooks died peacefully at his home in the Mount Sylvia Community. Dr. Crooks was born on July 8, 1948 to Huey and Josephine Crooks in Mt. Pleasant, Tx. He was affectionately known as “Doc” by many who loved him.

Dr. Crooks is survived by his wife Wanda Crooks, Sister Ruth Dyke, daughter Joy Hodges, stepchildren and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his brother Huey Joe Crooks and his parents Huey and Josephine Crooks.

Dr. Crooks was a Chiropractor, receiving his Doctor of Chiropractic in 1976 in Pasadena, at Texas Chiropractic College. Doc served his community and East Texas for over 40 years. He was a lifetime member of The Lions Club, and served as President for a time. His passion in life was taking care of people. He loved telling stories, some true and some just plain funny. He was always writing or sharing his “pearls of wisdom”.

Visitation will be held on Friday January 21, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 P.M at Gladewater Baptist Church. Funeral will be Saturday, January 22, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. Graveside will follow at Gladewater Cemetery.

The family would like to invite anyone who has a picture of Doc to bring it for the memorial table.
